HoneyCombs on Jeans

Posted on September 3, 2019September 3, 2019 by Verna Bradford

Faded denim has become a common jeans-style worn by males and females alike. While some individuals prefer dark indigo’s classic look, others prefer faded denim’s vintage look. Instead of waiting for your jeans to disappear naturally for several years, you can buy them with unique fake marks. However, you need to be conscious of several distinct kinds of fade marks. There are Different fades available on jeans like Honeycombs, Whiskers, etc.

What is HoneyCombs?

Honeycomb fade marks (also referred to as “comb” marks) live up to their name by featuring honeycomb-shaped fading regions typically found behind the knees. It’s a tiny, subtle, not overbearing quantity of fading. For individuals who plan to wear the jeans for semi-formal reasons, this makes it a common option. The denim on the knee’s back is created by repeated folding. It produces a distinctive fading that appears in a pattern comparable to the bees ‘ honeycombs.  Usually, after a couple of wearing weeks, you see these honeycombs on dry denim. When you lastly wash your dry jeans, the honeycombs will become more noticeable after at least six months.

In tighter fits, the honeycombs tend to appear brighter while looser fits have wider fades. Cotton fiber breaks easier when the denim with stretch is heavier and stiffer than light-weight denim. Imagine folding paper and cardboard. The following picture shows Mathias honeycombs in his 11-month-long Grim Tim Dry Orange Selvage and Melker’s sleeve honeycombs in his 2-year-old Gusten Org. Dry shirt with Denim.

At Last:

Tightly packed, skinny jean combs generally don’t fade as aggressively as a fitted but not too loose jean in the knee. Your private experience may demonstrate otherwise, but if you speak in practice, I believe you will see that this is also usually the case for lighter denim weight. Obviously, there are countless variables that can influence the weight of honeycombs, such as denim weight, dye quality, starching, sanforization, washing, wear pattern, etc.
